About El Paso Fire Department - Texas
The El Paso Fire Department (EPFD) FY01/02 budget is $54,608,457.00, and the staffing consists of approximately 679 structural firefighters, 132.5 Fire Medical Division personnel and approximately 75 civilians (support personnel). The support personnel includes accounting clerks, automotive workers and technicians, budget coordinators, clerk typist, mechanics, payroll clerks, dispatchers, secretaries, stores supervisor and clerks, welder, etc. The department is responsible for 250.9 square miles and 563,662 citizens. EPFD also provides mutual aid response to Fort Bliss Military Installation and outside the city limits to the County of El Paso. EPFD responded to 61,279 incidents in 2001.
EPFD facilities currently include thirty neighborhood fire stations, one airport fire station at the El Paso International Airport, and six support facilities. The support facilities include the administrative offices, maintenance, fire prevention, training academy, communications, and reserve center.
